Edinburgh Fencing Club’s roots date back to 1970.

After the British Commonwealth Games were held in Edinburgh in July 1970, Scotland’s national coach, the late Professor Bert Bracewell started Meadowbank Fencing Club. In the same year Lothian Fencing Club was founded by Mark Maclagan. When Lothian Fencing Club closed twelve years later its members transferred to the club at Meadowbank. In the mid 1990s, the club left Meadowbank Stadium and renamed itself Edinburgh Fencing Club.

Throughout the years, Edinburgh Fencing Club has produced fencers who have represented both Scotland and Great Britain at the World Championships and Olympic Games.

We have fencers in all three weapons, all ages, and all abilities. Come and join us!
